CIHR STAGE

National Internships and Practica

Internships through MITACS Accelerate

The goal of the MITACS Accelerate program is to link partners across the industrial spectrum with university-based expertise through short-term research projects. CIHR STAGE trainees with fresh ideas will have the opportunity to apply their graduate research knowledge to real-world challenges and learn about non-academic research and development processes in four to eight month internships.

Research Practica

Four to eight month research practica will be offered mainly to Master’s and PhD trainees. Cross-disciplinary experience will be encouraged, such that trainees are placed with supervisors outside of their core disciplines. Examples of available practica:

  • The Ontario Health Study, sponsored by the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research
  • The Centre for Applied Genomics Statistical Analysis Facility
  • Pharmacogenetics studies with industry partners
