SUMMARY:STAGE ISSS: Goncalo Abecasis
DESCRIPTION:\nJoin us for the next instalment of the STAGE International Speaker Seminar Series (ISSS) with\n\n\n\nGoncalo Abecasis\n\n\n\nFelix E. Moore Collegiate Professor and Department ChairDepartment of BiostatisticsUniversity of Michigan School of Public Health\n\n\n\nTalk Title:\n\n\n\nSequencing and Analysis of 10,000s of Human Genomes: Challenges and Opportunities\n\n\n\nAbstract:\n\n\n\nRapid advances in genome sequencing and genotyping technology are enabling increasingly detailed analysis of human genetic variation. In the next year, we expect to analyze >50,000 deeply sequenced human genomes, corresponding to ~5 million billion bases of raw sequence data. The generation, transfer and analysis of the data present many opportunities for scientific discovery – enabling better understanding of human history, biology and disease. It also presents varied computational and analytical challenges as well as opportunities to develop and implement new analytical strategies and modes of data sharing. I will illustrate these challenges and opportunities with examples from ongoing studies.\n\n\n\nSpeaker Profile:\n\n\n\nUnavailable\n\n\n\nSpeaker Poster:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGoncalo Abecasis Poster ( https://stage.utoronto.ca/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Goncalo-Abecasis-talk.pdf )Download\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPhotography Disclosure:\n\n\n\nPhotographs and/or video may be taken of participants at STAGE events.
